Terms of service

Last updated: 13 October 2026. These terms are in English and in French; when the two differ, the French text prevails for a reader who signed up in French, and the English text for everyone else.

1. Who we are

Recapybara is made and sold by Just Games Land Ltd, a private limited company registered in Cyprus under number HE 419675, with its registered office at 35 Achaion Street, 5th Floor, Office 17, 1101 Nicosia, Cyprus. Write to us at hello@recapybara.com, or call +33 6 08 61 05 76.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

2. What Recapybara is, and what it is not

Recapybara is a study tool. You record a lecture on your phone, or upload a recording, a video or a text, and Recapybara writes a transcript, sections, notes, cards, a test, a mind map, and on request a podcast and a short film, from that lecture. It then brings each card back to you on the day you would otherwise forget it.

Recapybara is not a source of truth. It writes from what was said in the lecture, and it can mishear, misread, or get something wrong. Check anything that matters against your own notes and your lecturer. It does not replace attending the lecture, and it makes no promise about your grades.

Recapybara is in beta. Features change, and the service may be unavailable at times. We say what is in beta on the site and in the app.

3. Your account

One account is for one person. Give a working email address and keep your password to yourself; what happens under your account is yours. You must be at least 16 to open an account. If you are under 16, Recapybara is not for you yet.

During the beta, accounts open by invitation or from the waitlist. An invitation gives one account to one person.

4. The plans

Every plan has a monthly allowance of minutes, and everything you make spends from it: a lecture spends its length, a document spends its words, a podcast spends 50 minutes, a film 10, a question to the tutor 3. The app tells you the cost before anything that spends minutes, and shows what is left. There is also a daily allowance of one third of the month, so that one day cannot use the whole month.

PlanPrice a monthMinutes a monthProcessing
Frugal€3.99240overnight
Student€9.99600in minutes
Pro€19.991,200in minutes
Ultimate€593,000in minutes

There is no free plan: adding lectures needs a paid plan, and an account without one keeps its notes and cards to study for as long as it exists. During the beta, an invitation or an admission from the waitlist starts an account on Student for thirty days at no charge. Prices include VAT and are shown on the plans page in the app. A paid plan runs by the month and renews until you cancel. Minutes do not carry over from one month to the next. If we change a price, we tell you by email and on your account page at least thirty days before it applies to you; if you do not want the new price, cancel before then.

Paid plans are sold through Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, issues the receipt, and collects the VAT of your country. Your card statement reads "Recapybara".

5. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time from "Manage your subscription" on your account page, which opens Paddle’s page. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have paid; you keep your plan until then and are not charged again.

Refunds are described in our Refund policy, which is part of these terms. In short: if you ask within fourteen days of your first payment of a plan, we refund it in full, for any reason; renewals are not refunded.

6. Your content, and other people’s

What you record, upload and make with Recapybara is yours. You give us only the right to store and process it to provide the service to you: to transcribe it, to write the notes, cards, tests, maps, podcasts and films, and to show them to you. We do not use your content to train any model, and neither do our providers.

A lecture is somebody else’s work. You record it for your own study, as a student present in that lecture, and you are responsible for having the right to record it where you are; some institutions or lecturers do not allow it. Do not upload material you have no right to use, and do not share Recapybara’s artefacts of a lecture beyond your own study.

The recording itself is kept seven days after your notes are ready, then deleted; the transcript and what was made from it stay in your account. More in our Privacy notice.

7. Using Recapybara fairly

Do not use Recapybara to break the law, to harm someone, or to get at content you have no right to. Do not access the service by any automated means, resell it, share an account, or attempt to extract the instructions that drive its models. Do not upload anything that is not a lecture, a course document or your own study material: Recapybara is built for study, and we may refuse to process other things.

If an account is used against these terms, we may suspend it, and tell you why.

8. Our content

The name Recapybara, the capybara, the design, and the texts of the site and the app are ours. The artefacts Recapybara writes for you are yours to use for your study; they are not for resale, and they carry our mark where the app puts it.

9. Ending

You can delete your account at any time from your account page, or by writing to hello@recapybara.com from its address. Deletion removes your content and your personal data as the Privacy notice says, and ends any plan at the end of the paid month.

If we close Recapybara, or a plan, we tell you by email at least thirty days ahead, give you the means to export your notes and cards, and refund the unused part of any month you have paid.

10. What we are responsible for

We provide Recapybara with care, and as a beta service: as it is, without a promise that it is free of errors or always available. We are not responsible for a wrong note, a missed card or a lost day of study, nor for any indirect loss. Where we are responsible, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the event. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Cyprus. If you live in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protections of your own country apply to you as well, and you may bring a claim in your own courts. The European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Before anything else, write to us at hello@recapybara.com: most things are settled in a reply.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we tell you by email and on your account page at least thirty days before the change applies, and we keep the date of the last change at the top of this page. Using Recapybara after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, cancel and delete your account before then.
