Your data

Last updated: 18 September 2026.

Short, because there is not much to say. Every line here is what the app does today, not what we mean to do one day.

What we keep

Your email address, to sign you in. The transcript of each lecture, and the notes, the cards and the test made from it: they are the product, and they stay until you delete the lecture or the account. How you answered each card, because that is how the app knows when to bring it back.

What we do not keep

Your recording. It is kept for a short time after processing, so that a failed transcription can be redone, and then deleted automatically. The notes stay. If you want a recording kept, write to us and we keep it.

Where it lives

On our server in Frankfurt, Germany, in the European Union. To write the transcript, the recording is sent to Deepgram; to write the notes, the cards and the test, the transcript is sent to Anthropic. Both are set to keep no logs of what we send and to train on nothing. The server keeps a technical log of requests, with the page asked for, the time and an account id, never the words of a lecture.

What we never do

Train any model on your lectures, your notes or your answers. Sell or share anything. Run a tracker on this website: it sets no cookies at all.

The three cookies the app keeps

recap_s keeps you signed in, for 30 days or until you sign out; it holds a random token, not your email. recap_theme remembers light, dark or system, for a year. recap_lang remembers the language you chose, for a year. All three stay on app.recapybara.com and go to nobody.

Two things you can switch on, under You, then Your data: product analytics, and a replay of your screens with your words masked. Both are off until you switch them on. Switching one on loads PostHog, on servers in the European Union through our own address, and it sets one cookie of its own; switching it off removes that cookie.

Deleting it, or taking it with you

Delete a lecture from its page; its notes, cards and test go with it. To delete your account and everything in it, or to take a copy of your notes and cards, write to us; we do it and tell you what was removed.
